Senior SDET Engineer
Posted 11 days 2 hours ago by Mews Systems
First things first: you want to know what you're actually applying for. It's impossible to capture every nuance of a role - especially at a rapidly growing company like Mews - but if we had to distill it down to a job description, it would be this:
You're not a tester, you're a developer. Our Software Development Engineers in Test (SDETs) bridge the gap between Quality Assurance and Software Engineering, and it's all about automation. To ensure that Mews delivers high quality applications to hotels and guests around the world, we need to elevate our testing game - we need automation engineers. If you prefer script-writing over document-writing, and frameworks over manual work, then we can be friends. This role is embedded in the engineering team and works closely with product managers, data analysts and DevOps to guide development outcomes. We use GitHub, C#, TypeScript and Azure DevOps for tools, and we welcome innovative solutions and languages.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it:- Develop and maintain automated test suites, frameworks, and tools to support engineers.
- Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing.
- Promote best testing practices and collaborate on testing strategies.
- Ensure high-quality, efficient test suites with thorough documentation and a 100% green board.
- Guide risk assessment and mitigation.
- Work with teams to align testing with requirements.
- Mentor engineers in writing maintainable tests and foster a quality culture.
- Write clean, efficient code as a model.
- Enhance testing processes and stay current with industry trends.
- Drive initiatives to improve code and development quality.
- Maintain stable, scalable testing environments.
- Monitor quality metrics and resolve issues quickly.
- Proficient in programming languages (e.g., C#, TypeScript).
- Skilled in software testing methodologies (unit, integration, functional, performance).
- Experienced with test automation tools/frameworks (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, Cypress).
- Knowledgeable in CI/CD practices and tools (GitHub).
- Balances long-term quality with short-term delivery.
- Adept at debugging complex, multi-system issues.
- Strong grasp of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
- Communicates technical concepts clearly to all stakeholders.
- Mentors engineers and fosters collaborative problem-solving.
- Exhibits empathy and active listening.
- Committed to staying updated with industry trends.
- Proactively seeks/provides feedback to enhance performance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experienced in DevOps and "You build it, you run it" approach.
- Handles incident management and rapid issue resolution.

We believe everyone should have equal access to opportunities and want to ensure we provide an inclusive experience, so let us know if there is anything we can do to support your application process.

We see AI as a tool to support research, generate ideas, and drive efficiency, but creativity, critical thinking, and opinions differentiate us. As you apply, feel free to use AI to help structure your thoughts - but ensure your application and conversations with us reflect your personal opinions, capabilities and experience. We're building an AI-enabled workforce, and that starts with people who think independently and bring fresh ideas to the table. Because at Mews, making work more human is the ultimate goal.
