Job Title: Senior/Scientific Director, Pharmacometrics

Location: Remote in Europe

We are currently partnering with a high growth SaaS and services business in the Model Informed Drug Development space. Their software platform brings together validated computational models, advanced analytics and synthetic data to help biopharma and medtech organisations accelerate R&D, reduce risk and ultimately get life changing treatments to patients.

The business are in an exciting growth phase, looking for an experienced, senior level Pharmacometrician to shape the next phase of their software capabilities.

The Role

As Scientific Director you will be the scientific driving force behind the Modelling & Simulation strategy. You'll design and implement state of the art QSP, PKPD and PBPK models as well as AI/ML approaches.

You will combine hands on modelling with strategic leadership. Setting scientific direction, guiding a growing team, partnering closely with clients and collaborators and representing the company in the external scientific community.

Key Responsibilities Platform Capability Development
  • Lead the scientific development of the cloud based modelling platform to support model informed drug development across multiple therapeutic areas and modalities.
  • Oversee QSP, PBPK, PK/PD, statistical and AI based modelling and simulation strategies supporting non clinical and clinical development programs.
  • Drive the creation of infrastructure, tools and workflows needed for efficient, reproducible and compliant modelling work.
  • Perform scientific and technical due diligence on models in licensed or acquired from academic and industry partners, ensuring quality, robustness and regulatory readiness.
Project & Client Leadership
  • Lead or contribute to client projects from scoping and study design through to execution, interpretation and communication of results.
  • Design, conduct and interpret modelling studies, preparing high quality summaries, technical reports and documentation.
  • Actively support customer engagement: help define value propositions, shape proposals and communicate impact to scientific and non scientific stakeholders.
  • Build long term relationships with clients, academic collaborators and regulatory stakeholders.
Scientific Leadership & Visibility
  • Serve as scientific reviewer and mentor for colleagues, providing guidance on modelling strategies, methodologies and best practices.
  • Stay on top of emerging methods, tools and trends in QSP, PBPK, PK/PD, AI/ML and model informed drug development, and translate these into platform capabilities and project approaches.
  • Represent the company at scientific conferences, industry events and in peer reviewed publications and presentations.
Experience & Qualifications
  • PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Computational Biology, Pharmacometrics, Mathematical Modelling or a closely related discipline.
  • Approximately 10+ years of experience in modelling and simulation, with a strong focus on QSP and PK/PD; PBPK experience is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record as a senior individual contributor and/or scientific lead, capable of setting direction while remaining hands on.
  • Strong programming and modelling skills using relevant tools (e.g. R, Python, MATLAB, NONMEM, Monolix, Julia or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience applying modelling to real world drug development problems, ideally within pharma, biotech or a consultancy/CRO environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex modelling concepts and results to both technical and non technical audiences.
  • Comfortable working in a remote, international and cross functional environment within a scaling technology business.
  • Collaborative mindset, scientific curiosity and a desire to see your models make a tangible impact on drug and device development.
What We Offer
  • The chance to shape a cutting edge in silico platform used by leading pharma and biotech organisations.
  • High scientific ownership and the opportunity to define best practices in model informed drug development.
  • A flexible, remote friendly culture with colleagues across Europe, plus the option to work hybrid from our Milan base.
  • Exposure to diverse projects across therapeutic areas, modalities and development stages.
  • A mission driven environment where innovation in modelling and AI directly contributes to better, faster therapies for patients.

If you're excited by the idea of combining deep scientific expertise with platform innovation, and you want your modelling work to influence how the industry designs and develops new therapies, we'd love to hear from you. Please get in touch with Christopher Gibson on or on
