Job overview An opportunity has arisen for a skilled and enthusiastic Senior Radiographer to join our friendly and dynamic Imaging team at the Royal Sussex County Hospital (RSCH) in Brighton.
UHSussex provides care for 1.8 million service users across Sussex and its borders across five main hospital sites. RSCH is the largest site, providing district general, specialist and tertiary services to the residents of Brighton and Hove, mid Sussex and parts of East Sussex, in addition to being the major trauma centre for the whole of Sussex and the South East. The Brighton campus also includes the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital and the Sussex Eye Hospital.
The Imaging Department is predominantly based in Level 4 of the Louisa Martindale Building, with emergency x-ray and CT imaging services provided separately in our department on the acute floor. The Department currently has:
Main duties of the job This Senior Rotational Radiographer role would suit radiographers who have good experience of working in a busy imaging department and wish to continue working in x-ray, whilst offering additional dedication to develop their career in the fields of CT, MRI and Interventional Radiology. This position offers the chance to be an integral part of our thriving Imaging team and work closely with like minded radiographers, junior staff, radiologists, nurses, RDAs and HCAs.
The Imaging Department is supported by a team of Lead Superintendent Radiographers and Superintendent Radiographers and, in return of your commitment to us, we will provide on going support for your professional development as well as a friendly, challenging and stimulating work environment.
With this role, there is a commitment to the out of hours service and extended working days.

- Siemens and Philips MRI scanners, including 3T which will open in Spring 2025.

- The Senior Radiographer will be expected to work in all areas of Imaging at the Royal Sussex County Hospital (RSCH), the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital (RACH), and Hove Polyclinic (HPC).
- The Senior Radiographer will need to be able to undertake a wider range of clinical duties to provide a high quality imaging service and assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, encouraging and supporting colleagues to also do so.
- Ensure the department delivers an exemplary service and experience to patients and members of the public.
- Ensure departmental adherence to Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IR(ME)R) 2017 and Ionising Radiation Regulations (IRR) 2017, MRHA MRI safety guidelines and the Trust's policies, protocols, and guidelines.
- Actively participate as a member of the multi disciplinary team, including the supervision of newly qualified and junior members of staff, assistant practitioners, and student Radiographers.
- Support the Superintendent Radiographers to ensure the day to day running of the Imaging Department is smoothly coordinated.
- The post holder will be expected to participate in the 7 day extended day and out of hours (OOH) rota.
- HCPC registration
- Previous NHS experience
- Experience in trauma and A&E plain film radiography
- Experience in general radiography including plain film, mobile, theatres and fluoroscopy
- Experience in cross sectional
- Experience in Interventional radiology
