Job Description

An exciting opportunity for a Senior Risk Manager or Risk Manager to join a leading construction consultancy supporting the £10bn TransPennine Route Upgrade, based in Manchester.

This role offers involvement in a major UK rail infrastructure programme, delivering best practice risk management across complex projects.

The Senior Risk Manager will be deployed on the TransPennine Route Upgrade (TRU), a £10bn rail infrastructure programme enhancing connectivity, capacity and electrification across the North of England.

This major transportation project includes upgrades to rail systems, stations, track, signalling and electrification. The role will be based in Manchester, supporting programme wide risk management activities on one of the UK's most significant rail infrastructure schemes.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Deliver risk management services in a consistent and professional manner exceeding client expectations
  • Implement effective risk management processes to reduce project uncertainty and risk exposure
  • Develop and implement risk management frameworks aligned with industry best practice
  • Facilitate risk workshops and engage project teams in proactive risk identification and mitigation
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative risk analysis using industry recognised tools
  • Produce clear and concise risk reports tailored to project and programme requirements
  • Support continuous improvement of risk management processes, tools and systems
  • Assist in the development of innovative risk management approaches
  • Support bid preparation and proposals to secure new work
  • Contribute to business development and client engagement activities
  • Promote risk management services within the wider construction and infrastructure sector
  • Ensure integration of risk management with project controls, planning and cost management
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Around 5+ years' experience in risk management within construction or infrastructure projects
  • Experience on major infrastructure programmes such as rail, transportation, or energy projects
  • Strong knowledge of risk management methodologies aligned to ISO31000, APM or IRM standards
  • Experience facilitating risk workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions
  • Proven ability to undertake qualitative and quantitative risk analysis
  • Experience producing risk reports to support decision making
  • Familiarity with risk management tools such as ARM, Xactium, Primavera Risk Analysis, Safran or Risk Predict!
  • Understanding of value management and its application on infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of integration between risk, planning, cost and commercial functions
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Qualifications / Educational Requirements
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline
  • Professional qualification in Risk Management or related field is desirable
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. APM, IRM) is advantageous
