Salary: £39,000 - £45,000 (GBP), depending on skills and experience

Job Description

Managerial and strategic role in the Rights Department - devising and implementing sales strategies to meet and exceed sales budgets, focusing on key international markets for HarperCollins Children's Books and Farshore imprints.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Sell translation rights across Farshore and HarperCollins Children's Books to key foreign markets
  • Manage responsibilities for markets including France, Scandinavia, China, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea
  • Coordinate with Rights team on profitable co-edition print runs
  • Lead as Brand Champion of Fiction, summarising Rights feedback and P&L contributions
  • Act as conduit between Rights and divisions, gathering rights intel and building P&Ls
  • Contribute to department strategy and budget fulfillment
  • Strategically liaise with sister companies for optimal title placement in translation
  • Provide regular sales updates on all territories
  • Attend major book fairs and sales trips to key territories
  • Represent the Rights team at divisional meetings and pitches
  • Assist in acquisition processes, ensuring international sales potential
  • Provide sales projections for new projects
  • Perform administrative duties related to rights and sales
  • Manage team effectively
  • Achieve rights income budgets and targets, ensuring profitability
  • Represent divisions internationally
  • Coordinate print runs for domestic and international markets
  • Maintain awareness of market trends and rights sales potential
  • Grow customer base and ensure smooth rights systems operation
Skills and Experience Required
  • Extensive experience in publishing rights, contracts, or production
  • Staff management experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Understanding of print production process
  • Negotiation skills
  • Hybrid working model (3 days in the office)
