The Technology Consulting business line is the technology and operations' arm of the Novaspace group. Novaspace Technology has developed expertise and know-how around a portfolio of services and capabilities covering the complete lifecycle of a space project, from feasibility studies and project development to operations and training support.

Novaspace Technology (formerly Satconsult), a leading satellite engineering consultancy firm, is looking for a talented Senior Remote Sensing Space Systems Technical Manager to join its growing team.

As Senior Remote Sensing Space Systems Technical Manager, you will be in charge of a large variety of activities to participate to our missions on Remote Sensing Space Systems.

For the defense and security purposes of our customers, you will participate to the definition or assessment of future Remote Sensing Systems:

Electro-Optical (EO): MSI / HSI / VNIR, SWIR, TIR,

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR),

Other remote sensing systems, e.g. ELINT, Lidar, etc.

Depending on our missions, you may be involved at different stage of a remote sensing project:

Concept: performing analysis of innovative architecture or different trade-offs on remote sensing systems

Feasibility: performing collection of user's needs, generation and comparison of high-level preliminary designs, generation of high-level system requirements, system cost assessment and cost trade-offs.

Procurement: performing generation/review of the ground system specifications (requirements for design, test, acceptance and operations) as part of the technical exhibit of an RFP, analysis and comparison of the different proposals received from the industry, final negotiation of the contract with the selected bidder(s).

Construction: monitoring the execution of an industrial contract to design, build, integrate, test and commission a Remote Sensing Space Systems.

Primary role and responsibilities
  • Lead or support engineering activities for remote sensing projects
  • Understand and capture Customer needs
  • Assess and identify the technologies necessary for the implementation of the system architecture
  • Analyze ground system operations and contribute to the generation of the Concept Of Operations
  • Review or generate requirements (e.g., Contractual Technical Annexes) and definition baselines of the overall system
  • Analyze/review or perform the development, verification and validation of mission procedures
  • Interface with customers for systems topics
  • Prepare and participate to project reviews and workshops
  • Participate to technical proposals and studies
Desired skills & experience
  • Master's degree in engineering, preferably in aerospace and remote sensing
  • At least ten years of practical industry experience in Remote Sensing space instruments and/or systems
  • At least five years of experience of technical management of Remote Sensing space projects & teams in an international environment
  • Good knowledge of: Electro-Optical (EO) instruments and systems, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Other remote sensing systems, e.g. ELINT, Lidar, etc; Knowledge in laser communication (Laser Communication Terminals for Optical Intersatellite Links) would be an asset; Requirement generation & management, System engineering, System operations
  • Ability to appreciate both the commercial and operational requirements
  • Proficient in writing reports and preparing corresponding PowerPoint presentations, adjusted to the message and audience
  • Fluent in English
  • Applied and rigorous both on the technical and organisational aspects of work
  • Autonomy and adaptability
  • Team spirit and communication skills
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with Satconsult engineers and customers and to present to clients or at conferences
  • Ability to travel to client sites worldwide (Europe, Middle East, Asia, the Americas)
