Senior R&D Chemist

Position Context

Working within Research & Development team reporting to the R&D Team Leader.

Main tasks
  • Ensure good housekeeping throughout the lab, maintaining high standards of health and safety
  • Develop lab scale processes (
  • Prepare detailed technical reports on all R&D work
  • Collaborate with quality control team to facilitate the transfer of analytical methodologies
  • Effectively contribute to multi-disciplinary teams for the introduction of new chemical processes
  • Perform an assessment of reactive chemistries and participate in cross-functional process safety reviews
  • Contribute to the training and mentorship of more junior team members
  • Support quality assurance and regulatory colleagues in customer service support
Required skills
  • Degree in chemistry
  • Good working knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry and associated laboratory skills
  • Ability to plan and execute work independently
  • Demonstrable project management skills and ability to work with multifunctional teams
  • Excellent communication abilities; able to articulate complex technical information to any audience
  • Flexible attitude towards the support of industrial manufacturing processes
Desirable skills
  • Higher degree in chemistry or related subject
  • Experience working in an industrial lab
  • Knowledge of lean six sigma and related operational excellence tools
  • Familiarity with analytical techniques for the quantification of low level (ppm/ppb) organic impurities
  • Knowledge of quality management systems
  • Understanding of HAZOP and LOPA processes
