Overview of the roleWe are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Advisory & Programme Delivery (APD) Transportation team, supporting the successful delivery of major highways projects.
This role offers a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and clear opportunities for long term progression.
Key responsibilities and duties include:- Provide key support to the senior project manager in the delivery of commission obligations and internal project performance.
- Control the internal and external commercial aspects of project across a range of contractual arrangements.
- Advise and work closely with the project and design managers to ensure successful delivery of projects to time, quality, and budget throughout the project lifecycle.
- Liaise with the Client Representative on commercial matters and act as focal point for the MM team on commercial and contractual issues, contributing to open and effective communications across the project delivery and client teams.
- Drive effective change management across the project.
- Procure and manage sub consultants, including timesheet approvals and payments.
- Mentor colleagues in the skills of cost and commercial management.
- Contribute to securing opportunities and repeat business through high quality service delivery.
- Demonstrate NEC3/4 accreditation or significant knowledge and experience.
- Show a proven track record of commercial managing a range of infrastructure and built environment developments and disciplines, with substantial experience of managing and leading large project teams to successful outcomes.
- Have highways or major infrastructure experience.
- Hold a degree in Accountancy, Finance, Quantity Surveying, Engineering Discipline, or equivalent.
- Be a chartered member with RICS, ICES, or a relevant professional institute.
- Demonstrate experience of working within a multi disciplinary environment.
- Create and manage work package labour estimates and associated P&L.
- Take ownership of contract administration, billing, cost management, subcontractor financial management, cost reconciliation, and P&L reporting at a project level.
- Plan cost management in the organisational ERP systems with advanced ability to reproduce reports in a customer facing environment.
- Guide team members to create efficient cost and contract administration procedures.
- Work under pressure.
- Use effective time management with excellent presentation and communication skills.
