Project Overview

We're working with National Highways on a £679 million transformation of the A428, unlocking faster, smoother journeys between Milton Keynes, Bedford and Cambridge. This project will save precious commuting time, cut carbon emissions and open up long term opportunities for local people and businesses.

You will be working in the Infrastructure OU where our Infrastructure team brings design, build and refurbishment excellence to complex civil engineering projects nationwide - combining technical expertise with a passion for creating lasting value for people and places.

We are currently looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor who will work on the A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet project.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake and oversee subcontractor administration (NEC4 various options) - ensuring subcontracts are administered correctly & reflect the agreed scope.
  • Work closely with the operations team for effective cost and value management of materials and report on risks and opportunities.
  • Liaise with the Client representatives on commercial issues, including the agreement of costs.
  • Provide support and guidance for junior commercial staff and operational staff who you are supporting.
  • Working in collaboration with the delivery team to identify implement and monitor efficiency plans throughout the lifecycle of a project.
  • Control of project documentation. Ensure required records are produced and stored by utilising commercial and document IT systems (Oracle, CEMAR, ProjectWise).
Qualifications
  • Established commercial working for a main contractor ideally on highways projects but other large civil engineering / infrastructure experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of contract/commercial law, including NEC4 forms of contracts.
  • BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
  • IT literate & embraces use of commercial digital and information management systems.
  • MRICS or CICES desirable.
