Job Description
Senior Quantity Surveyor

Role Description

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial resources of assigned projects, supporting project teams with commercial and contractual expertise, and maintaining strong relationships with clients. This role will involve overseeing all commercial aspects of projects from tender through to completion to maximise cash flow and margin.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage project cost plans, estimates, and tender documentation
  • Oversee procurement schedules and subcontractor engagement
  • Conduct site measurements and take-offs
  • Administer subcontractor and supplier valuations, payments, and cashflow
  • Attend and lead client meetings, valuations, and value engineering workshops
  • Prepare and review contract documentation and tender returns
  • Implement and manage key subcontract packages and contractual requirements
  • Prepare CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations) and report to senior management
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure compliance with construction contract terms and supply chain obligations
  • Support and mentor junior staff as needed
  • Maintain project documentation in line with ISO standards
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Capable of working independently and under pressure to meet deadlines

Qualifications/Skills required
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5 GCSE's inc. Maths and English or equivalent
  • Proven experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor role, particularly within the refurbishment or construction sectors
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, contracts, and commercial procedures
  • High level of IT literacy including MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and numerical ability with attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, to meet strict deadlines
