A new opportunity has arisen for a Senior Property Underwriter to join a high-performing and well-regarded leading global insurer, with a central hub in Birmingham. This office is a standout performer within the UK business, with a reputation for profitable growth and success across the business.

This is a key hire, created due to continued portfolio growth, and to manage the existing portfolio. The role offers real ownership and the chance to make an impact across underwriting, broker engagement, portfolio development and performance.

You'll work alongside experienced professionals in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment. And you will have the opportunity to work on some of the most complex insurance programs in the business, something to really push your knowledge.

What you'll be doing:

• Underwriting new business on a case-by-case and account level within the Property portfolio
• Underwriting 6-figure premium accounts, as well as getting your hands dirty on smaller but challenging risks.
• Have the opportunity to review cross-class Property/Casualty business, albeit this is not essential
• Working alongside a team of BDMs, developing and managing broker relationships to support profitable growth, managing renewals and building pipeline of opportunities
• Owning and driving portfolio performance - identifying trends, making refinements, and contributing to guide development
• Supporting governance and compliance, ensuring best practices are followed across the portfolio
• Taking an active role in strategic planning, reporting and contributing to wider business initiatives

What you'll bring:

• A minimum of 5 years experience underwriting Commercial Property risks - whether as Property in isolation, or as part of a P&C package.
• A thoughtful and analytical approach, with the ability to interpret data and apply sound judgment
• Confidence working with brokers and building long-term partnerships
• A proactive mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement and development
• Strong technical skills and understanding of underwriting frameworks, processes, and controls
