The project:

We are now recruiting a senior project manager to work with our strategic client in the energy sector supporting a major project in electricity transmission.

The senior project manager role offers an opportunity to be part of our expansion and help us deliver distinctive value for our clients by managing and delivering key projects and programmes on their behalf. We are seeking experienced candidates who can demonstrate success in:

  • Managing projects during pre-construction phases, including optioneering, development, and consenting.
  • Delivering client projects within regulated sectors, on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Managing health, safety, and environmental risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinating multi-disciplinary teams to achieve project outcomes.

This role is based in the Leeds regional office with travel across the UK, depending on project locations.

The senior project manager will be responsible for leading projects to deliver outcomes within time, cost, and quality parameters, managing risks, and collaborating with teams and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. This includes communicating strategies, managing budgets, risks, and resources, and maintaining relationships with clients and partners.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing programme, budget, and risks, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation and standards.
  • Providing regular updates on project performance, risks, opportunities, and financials.
  • Developing project stages, including development, optioneering, and consenting, to ensure robust designs and schedules.
  • Overseeing design, safety, commissioning, and post-completion activities.
  • Supporting tendering processes and contract strategies.
  • Managing project delivery, safety, and design reviews.
  • Acting as the primary interface between the project and internal/external teams and stakeholders.
  • Coordinating contractors and project teams to deliver projects on time, within scope, and with minimal disruption.
  • Handling complex third-party issues, land, consents, and community relations.
  • Leading meetings, providing coaching, and influencing stakeholders.

Minimum requirements:

  • Experience in electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and safety standards.
  • Understanding of HS&E management systems and environmental control.
  • Experience with technical documentation and NEC contracts.
  • Risk management skills for schedule and cost analysis.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification with relevant industry experience, or HNC/HND with more years of experience.
  • Membership of a professional institute and relevant health, safety, environmental qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, SMSTS, IOSH).
