Senior Project Manager - Capital Projects

Multi-site (Surrey & Slough) 6 months (temp to perm) £40.00 per hour

A senior leadership opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join a large NHS organisation's Capital Projects team. This role will lead the delivery of a significant capital programme across a complex, multi-site estate.

The Role

You will take strategic and operational responsibility for a portfolio of capital projects, leading a team of project managers and ensuring successful programme delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the delivery of capital projects ranging from minor works to multi-million-pound developments
  • Managing and developing a team of Project Managers and overseeing performance
  • Driving the capital programme, including new builds, refurbishments, and backlog maintenance
  • Leading estate strategy development and long-term capital planning
  • Overseeing business case development and capital budget management
  • Providing expert advice to senior stakeholders, including executive teams and boards
  • Managing consultants, contractors, and external partners
  • Ensuring compliance with governance, legislation, and health & safety standards
  • Deputising for the Head of Projects where required

About You

You will be a senior capital projects professional with strong leadership, strategic, and technical capability.

Essential:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in construction, engineering, surveying, or related discipline
  • Significant experience managing capital projects and estate development programmes
  • Proven track record in a senior or leadership role
  • Strong financial and budget management experience
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills

Desirable:

  • Professional membership (e.g. RICS, CIOB, RIBA, CIBSE)
  • Experience within healthcare or public sector environments
  • Knowledge of NHS capital investment processes
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in complex environments
