Job Description

The Senior Product Development Manager is responsible for leading the delivery of enhancements and new functionalities for AJ Bell's D2C website and apps. This role owns the delivery roadmap, ensuring timely, high-quality execution of prioritized product changes aligned with the company's strategic objectives.

Working closely with Product Managers, who oversee the product strategy and backlog, the Senior Product Development Manager provides oversight, coordination, and leadership across multiple workstreams. Reporting to the Head of Product Development, they also manage a team of Product Development Managers and Senior Product Development Analysts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the execution of the product delivery roadmap, ensuring effective scoping, definition, and delivery of prioritized backlog items
  • Coordinating with internal teams (UX, developers, testers, compliance, customer operations, marketing) to ensure smooth delivery
  • Managing and mentoring a team of Product Development Managers and Analysts, ensuring quality and performance
  • Collaborating with Product Managers on upcoming enhancements and strategic initiatives, ensuring seamless handover
  • Overseeing end-to-end delivery processes from requirements gathering to post-implementation review
  • Documenting and communicating detailed business and product requirements
  • Incorporating customer feedback, beta test results, and usability insights into final products
  • Supporting change management, training, and go-live activities with impacted teams
  • Creating customer-facing content in partnership with marketing
  • Ensuring all changes comply with regulatory and compliance standards
  • Promoting a customer-centric, delivery-focused approach that aligns with regulatory obligations like Consumer Duty
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned by the Head of Product Development

Knowledge and experience required:

  • Extensive experience in digital product delivery and change management, preferably within financial services
  • Proven leadership in managing cross-functional teams
  • Experience in managing high-performing teams
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and sprint-based delivery
  • Understanding of FCA regulatory frameworks and delivering compliant changes

Skills and competencies:

  • Understanding of digital platforms and customer-facing technologies, ideally in investment or finance
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, priority-driven environments
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities
  • Proficiency in documenting requirements, process flows, and tracking delivery progress
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and personal development
  • Collaborative team player focused on quality and outcomes
