Location: Rittal CSM Ltd, Plymouth
Salary: £44,000 - £49,000 (depending on qualifications and experience)
Contract: Permanent, Full time

The Opportunity

We are looking for a highly skilled and driven Senior Process Engineer to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will take full ownership of key manufacturing processes, ensuring new equipment and New Product Introductions (NPI) are delivered to world class standards and meet required capability levels.

You'll split your time between introducing new products, leading and executing improvement projects, and supporting day to day production, all while fostering a culture of continuous improvement across the factory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and improve manufacturing processes within the Sheet Metal department.
  • Ensure all new products and equipment are introduced successfully and meet capability targets.
  • Deliver projects on time, within budget and in line with H&S and quality standards.
  • Provide daily production support, ensuring tools, equipment and material flow are fully optimised.
Leadership & Coaching
  • Act as a role model, demonstrating integrity, accountability and professionalism.
  • Support and coach junior team members to help them reach their full potential.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement & Technical Expertise
  • Drive process optimisation through lean methodologies and strong problem solving.
  • Use engineering expertise to troubleshoot issues, reduce waste and improve product quality.
  • Ensure standard work, PFMEAs, layouts, line balancing and process capability checks are maintained to a high standard.
Cross Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Production and Supply Chain.
  • Attend NPI and design review meetings and contribute technical insight.
  • Engage in problem solving initiatives, root cause analysis and improvement workshops.
Qualifications & Experience
  • HNC Level 4 in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Degree in Industrial Engineering; Lean Six Sigma certification desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior engineering role.
  • Strong background in manufacturing processes, including jig design and welding/weld jigs.
  • Proven experience delivering projects, factory transformations and layout redesign.
  • Experience with contractors, negotiations and equipment procurement.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing systems, process engineering and project management.
  • Proficiency with CAD & planning software.
  • Understanding of lean principles, TPM, OEE, automation and smart manufacturing.
  • Experience with equipment validation and machine safety standards.
  • Project management, root cause analysis, strategic planning & budgeting, change management skills.
  • High attention to detail, strong leadership and coaching capability.
