Job Description

Summary

We're looking for a Senior Performance & Insights Analyst to join our Organisational Performance team within Strategy & Governance.

You'll play a leading role in helping the organisation understand how effectively we're delivering our strategy by providing high-quality analysis, insight and evidence that inform strategic decisions and organisational learning. Working closely with strategic portfolios, Directors and senior stakeholders, you'll help ensure decisions are grounded in robust evidence and a clear understanding of performance.

You'll act as a trusted analytical advisor, using a combination of strategic thinking, investigative analysis and stakeholder engagement to identify opportunities for improvement and help the organisation focus on what matters most for people, places and nature.

This role is a fixed term contract for 24 months.

The National Trust does not offer sponsorship. We welcome applicants with right to work in UK, but we are unable to offer any form of visa sponsorship.

What it's like to work here

You'll be part of a team that helps the National Trust make informed decisions and improve how we work. You'll work with colleagues from a range of backgrounds and specialisms, sharing ideas and learning from each other's experience. Your work will help us deliver better outcomes for people, places and nature.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon. However, we operate a hybrid approach to working and expect colleagues to spend 40-60% of their working week at a National Trust location. There is flexibility within this framework, and the specific working pattern for this role will be discussed in more detail at interview.

What you'll be doing

You'll report to the Organisational Performance Manager and take the lead in providing high-quality analysis and insight to support strategic decision-making across the organisation.

You'll work closely with portfolio boards and senior leaders to understand performance, investigate trends and variances to identify the factors driving success and underperformance.

You'll play a central role in ensuring portfolio boards, Executive Directors and Trustees have a clear and insightful understanding of organisational performance. You'll develop compelling reports, dashboards and presentations, transforming complex analysis into clear, engaging narratives that support effective decision-making and productive discussions about strategic priorities and performance.

You'll build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the Trust, acting as a trusted advisor and constructive challenger when needed. Alongside this, you'll contribute to the continued development of our analytical capability by sharing best practice, coaching colleagues, and helping improve how performance information, insight and evidence are used across the organisation.

You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what's possible in this role.

Who we're looking for

You'll bring a broad range of the following knowledge, skills and experience, shaped by different roles, sectors or career paths, and the judgment to apply them effectively at scale;

  • Proven experience of leading complex analysis and producing high-quality insight that supports strategic decision-making.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence, challenge constructively and act as a trusted analytical advisor.
  • Demonstrable experience of presenting complex analysis and insight to senior audiences, including Executive-level stakeholders and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience of monitoring organisational performance and producing clear, engaging reporting that supports strategic discussions and decision-making
  • Proven experience in the use of analytical tools such as Excel, Tableau and Alteryx to explore data, identify trends and communicate findings.
  • Skilled at identifying opportunities to improve reporting, analytical approaches or business processes and delivering positive change
  • Experience of coaching, mentoring or supporting the development of analytical colleagues.
  • Effective collaborator who builds relationships across wider teams and analysts to share learnings and ideas.
  • Familiar with the development of performance measures, KPIs or organisational performance frameworks.
