Job Description
Position Overview

Senior Payroll Coordinator reports directly to the Payroll Manager within Itron's Global Business Services organization based in Cork, Ireland. The role offers a hybrid work environment and a competitive remuneration package. The Senior Payroll Coordinator is responsible for the accurate, timely, and compliant delivery of payroll for designated countries or entities. This position acts as a key subject matter expert, providing day to day payroll support, managing complex payroll queries, and ensuring strong governance, controls, and compliance with local statutory requirements.

Responsibilities
  • End to end processing of payroll for assigned countries/entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with local legislation.
  • Review and validate payroll inputs, calculations, and outputs prior to final approval.
  • Process payroll changes (new hires, terminations, salary changes, benefits, bonuses, overtime, leave, etc.) correctly.
  • Coordinate payroll calendars, cut off dates, and statutory submission timelines.
  • Manage country mailboxes and checklists; migrate country payrolls as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and social security requirements; support internal & external audits.
  • Maintain payroll controls, reconciliations, and sign off procedures; lead country legislative and change requests.
  • Act as primary payroll contact for employees, HR, Finance, and external vendors; resolve complex queries in a professional and confidential manner.
  • Liaise with third party payroll providers and ensure service levels are met; manage key internal relationships and trackers.
  • Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and variance analysis for Finance; support month end and year end close processes from a payroll perspective.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, documentation, and controls; contribute to system enhancements and global initiatives.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to payroll team members as required; conduct data gathering, investigations, process reviews and ad hoc requirements.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years' experience in payroll, preferably within a multinational or shared services environment.
  • Proven experience managing complex payrolls with multiple pay elements.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll compliance and statutory requirements.
  • Experience working with third party payroll providers.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with payroll systems (e.g. Workday, SAP, ADP, other payroll platforms).
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Payroll or accounting qualification (e.g. IPASS, CIPP or equivalent) desirable.
  • Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field preferred.
  • Third Level Education (equivalent or above).
Compensation

Competitive salary, pension plan, health insurance, flexible work arrangement, study support, parking and other benefits. Expected to offer between gross 60,000 EUR and 65,000 EUR annually, depending on experience.
