Role ProfileThe Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer (Service Desk) plays a critical role in supporting a diverse portfolio of customer environments across legacy on-premise and modern cloud infrastructures. Working within a Managed Service Provider (MSP), you will provide advanced technical support, troubleshoot complex network and cloud connectivity issues, and ensure seamless delivery of services to multiple clients. This role requires strong technical depth across traditional networking, virtualization, and Azure cloud platforms (including Azure Virtual Desktop), as well as a customer first mindset.
Day To Day Responsibilities- Act as an escalation point for complex network and infrastructure incidents raised by the service desk.
- Support a variety of customer estates - including legacy on prem servers, hybrid infrastructures, and full cloud environments.
- Troubleshoot and maintain LAN/WAN, Wi Fi, VPN, and firewall configurations across multiple customer networks.
- Support and manage Azure environments, particularly Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) - including session host management, image deployment, user access, and connectivity.
- Configure and maintain network devices (switches, routers, firewalls, and access points) across diverse vendor platforms such as Cisco, Fortinet, HP, and Aruba.
- Collaborate with customers and vendors to implement and maintain secure, reliable, and scalable network solutions.
- Assist in network migrations and modernization projects, including transitions from legacy infrastructure to cloud or hybrid setups.
- Maintain detailed documentation for each customer estate, including network diagrams, configuration baselines, and change logs.
- Provide mentoring and escalation support to first and second line service desk engineers.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 3-5 years in IT support or network engineering within a Managed Service Provider (MSP).
- Proven experience supporting hybrid networks, including on prem, virtualized, and Azure cloud environments.
- CompTIA Network+ or Security+
- ITIL Foundation
- In depth understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and subnetting.
- Hands on experience with network infrastructure (Cisco, Fortinet, HP, Ubiquiti, or Aruba).
- Strong firewall and VPN configuration and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), including:
- Session host management and scaling
- FSLogix profiles and user experience optimization
- Familiarity with legacy infrastructure (AD, RDS, VMware/Hyper V environments).
- Knowledge of monitoring and management tools (PRTG, SolarWinds, Zabbix, Azure Monitor, Intune).
- Strong understanding of network and cloud security principles.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical thinking.
- Ability to manage multiple client priorities in a fast paced MSP environment.
- Team oriented, proactive, and adaptable to changing technologies and customer needs.
