About the roleWe have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Model Development Actuary to join our Retail Actuarial & Reinsurance (RAR) team, to support on a major transformation focused on our pricing system and actuarial models for our Retail products
This is a great opportunity to work with Python and software engineering and grow your knowledge and experience, but also for someone to shape, build and assist in the deployment of a longer term and data led build, which supports the ambitious growth plans for our Retail business
Key Responsibilities- Support the development and maintenance of pricing systems and models in Retail Actuarial, including the development of systems to make them more efficient, automated and robust
- Identify and specify pricing system developments needed to support all Retail products and improve the operational efficiency and capability of the team.
- Ensure pricing models are tested and documented fully and comply with the Group Model Risk policy
- Contribute to the maintenance of coding standards for Retail models, in line with any Group standards, and develop code in-line with these standards
- Collaborate with the Engineering and Architecture teams to ensure the interoperability of the pricing models within the wider Retail systems architecture
- Act as a senior member of the Retail Model Development team, reviewing the work of more junior members and providing feedback when required
- Collaborate closely with the wider RAR and engineering teams, to gather requirements and specifications for platform and tool development, testing, and validation
- Part qualified or qualified FIA, FFA or equivalent.
- Degree in a mathematical subject, or computer science or equivalent
- Significant experience gained in the life insurance industry, with a focus on actuarial modelling
- Significant experience building models in Python, utilising Git
- Excellent IT skills, particularly in Excel and Python programming
- Excellent attention to detail with a curiosity and drive to understand complex systems
- Experience with IT development processes and delivery lifecycles; development methodology; release strategy and configuration management; development tools, and applications across full project lifecycles
- Experience with DevOps tools and practices including CI/CD pipelines, version control and test automation (desirable but not essential)
- Experience developing in alignment with core non-functional requirements inc. performance, security, maintainability, and observability (desirable but not essential)
