Job overview

Play a senior role in our Wave 13, 11, 5 and 7 MHST teams, providing clinical leadership and supporting the development of the MHST alongside senior colleagues within the service.

Key responsibilities
  • Day to day operational running of the MHST teams, supporting the Clinical Lead/Supervisor and CAMHS management structure. This may include managerial tasks such as recruitment, managing performance, ensuring team meetings take place, and management of the health roster.
  • Hold a caseload and undertake the role of lead professional for children/young people with mild to moderate mental health problems in educational settings.
  • Work autonomously and accountably, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for the child or young person.
  • Develop and disseminate packages of care including a variety of evidence based interventions and work with parents and teaching staff individually and in group settings.
  • Collaborate with young people and their families, incorporating the use of outcome measures within their work.
  • Offer specialist support, consultation and training to staff within the service and other agencies where appropriate.
  • Possibly undertake a CYP IAPT supervisory course to become a supervisor for the Education Mental Health Professional (EMHP) at UCL, depending on qualifications and course timing.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Core professional qualification (e.g. Psychology, CBT Therapy, Nursing, Psychotherapy, Art Therapy, Family Therapy, Teaching/Social Work).
  • Current professional registration with the appropriate body (HCPC, SSC, NMC, BACP, BABCP).
  • Supervision training or demonstrable experience in supervising others, optionally CYP IAPT qualification.
  • CBT qualification.
  • Previous experience working with children and young people in a mental health setting, including specialist assessment and therapeutic interventions.
  • Experience providing case management supervision for lower banded CAMHS workers, students, or other service group/team professionals.
  • Experience teaching and training professionals; knowledge of the educational system in England, legislation relating to children and adolescents, safeguarding procedures, NHS, Social Care and Education structures, national policies, NICE guidelines.
  • High level knowledge of short term and long term clinical interventions in CAMHS, ability to maintain accurate, timely, concise and legible clinical records, and ability to communicate clearly.
  • Understanding of the 2014 Children and Families Act (SEND) and ability to mitigate risk to self, service users and others.
