Job Description
Senior Mental Health Practitioner

Closing date: 28 December 2025

We are passionate about working with children and young people. Our strength lies in our humanity and the values we uphold. It is important to us that children and young people are seen and we take the time needed to listen to their story. Our hope is that young people and their families leave our care with hope for the future.

We are looking to recruit a Band 7 senior mental health practitioner (nurse or other relevant registered professional) who will work alongside a team to provide clinical leadership across the CYP Mental Health Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team. You will need to have a passion for working with young people at times of crisis. You will be supporting them to remain at home or supporting step down care from hospital. The service uses a trauma informed approach with a high reliance on Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy models.

If you are passionate about working with children and young people and share our values, we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

This is a permanent post of which full time or part time (30 hours) can be offered.

The team covers the hours of 9am to 10pm weekdays and 9am - 5pm weekends and bank holidays. Shifts are managed by a rolling rota system. Being mobile is a key element of this role so the ability to drive and own a vehicle is essential.

The CYP CRHTT will work closely with our colleagues in liaison at the Southampton University Hospital. Joined up working between liaison and CRHTT will occur at the weekends to meet the needs of children and young people presenting in crisis.

We encourage flexible working. We know that a positive work/life balance brings about huge health related benefits, which has a positive impact on the care we provide. Please speak to us about flexible working, for example, hybrid working, part time hours, flexible start/finish times or anything else. If it works for you and works for the role, we'll do our best to make it happen.
