We are partnering with a leading Construction and Civil Engineering company known for delivering high-profile, innovative, and sustainable built environments. Due to a strong project pipeline and continued growth, they are looking for a talented and driven Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their multidisciplinary team in Dublin. Job SummaryAs a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will take the technical lead on the design and delivery of mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, and public health/plumbing) from initial concept through to site handover. Working closely with civil, structural, and electrical teams, you will ensure the seamless integration of energy-efficient, sustainable, and high-performing mechanical systems for a wide variety of commercial, residential, and public infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities- Lead Design Engineering: Head up the design of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems, public health (plumbing/drainage), fire protection systems, and building automation/controls.
- Multidisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate seamlessly with the client's internal Civil, Structural, and Electrical engineering teams to ensure unified project delivery and clash-free designs.
- Calculations & Simulation: Perform and verify detailed engineering calculations (heating/cooling loads, psychrometrics, ductwork/piping sizing, and hydraulic calculations) using industry-standard software.
- Project & Site Management: Oversee the production of high-quality tender and construction packages, attend site meetings, conduct inspections, and resolve contractor RFIs.
- Sustainability & Compliance: Guarantee all designs comply with relevant building regulations, local mechanical codes, and sustainable building standards (e.g., LEED/BREEAM), promoting energy-efficient solutions.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance, technical support, and quality assurance reviews to intermediate and junior mechanical designers within the team.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Experience: 7+ years of experience working within an engineering consultancy or construction firm, specifically focused on mechanical systems for the built environment.
- Licensing: Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or active progress toward licensure is highly desirable.
- Technical Software Proficiency: Proven experience using AutoCAD and Revit (BIM); proficiency in mechanical calculation and thermal simulation software (e.g., IES Virtual Environment, Hevacomp, Carrier HAP, or Trane TRACE).
- Skills: Excellent communication and client-facing skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record of managing engineering deliverables on time.
