Job Description

A respected engineering consultancy with a strong presence across the UK is looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Engineer to strengthen its Building Services division. Based near the vibrant Spinningfields district, the Manchester office provides a modern and collaborative working environment. The team delivers engineering, planning, and environmental consultancy services to a range of high-profile and technically challenging schemes both across the UK and internationally. Current projects include sustainable commercial developments, advanced healthcare facilities, major residential schemes, and award-winning retail projects.

The Position

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to take on a senior role within a growing MEP team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality mechanical building services designs across a range of projects, while also helping to mentor junior staff and supporting the ongoing expansion of the team.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver mechanical building services designs from initial concept through to project completion
  • Assist senior project leaders in maintaining technical quality, programme targets, and cost control
  • Support and mentor graduate and junior engineers within the team
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and external consultants
  • Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, calculations, and drawings
  • Contribute to energy-efficient and sustainable engineering solutions
  • Participate in client meetings and assist with business development activities when required
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant regulations, standards, and internal quality procedures
Candidate Profile
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Progressing toward Chartered Engineer status or recently chartered
  • Previous experience working within a building services consultancy
  • Demonstrated involvement in the successful delivery of engineering projects
  • Good understanding of UK building regulations and industry guidance
  • Experience working across multiple sectors including commercial, residential, and healthcare
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proactive mindset with a collaborative approach to project delivery
