Senior Mechanical Design/Thermal Engineer

What you'll do as a Senior Mechanical/Thermal Engineer:

Analyse and assess Electro-Mechanical Products for thermal performance against Systems Requirements using finite element techniques and classical hand calculations.

Generate Finite Element Models and reports as per Leonardo UK requirements.

Support the down selection of compliant solutions (including materials) based on an understanding of Industry recognised solutions for Thermal Management.

Conduct thermal analyses of complex Products using Ansys IcePak.

Advise/support on the development of mechanical thermal management solutions to achieve the desired Product Requirements.

Generate mechanical solutions for harsh environments (Shock, Vibration, Temperature, EMC, etc).

Design of engineering solutions considering all requirements including product quality, safety, reliability, testability, sustainability, etc.

Mechanical engineering detailed design, including numerical calculations, tolerance studies, etc.

Produce Manufacturing Data Packs in line with BS8888 including appropriate application of GD&T.

Generate BoM within approve PLM system (Teamcenter).

Contribute to reviews of Mechanical designs in accordance with business and industry standards.

Essential:

• The candidate will have proven experience in the use of Finite Element Analysis software tools (preferably Ansys IcePak) and techniques.
• Perform hands on' mechanical design and development using 3D CAD software (PTC Creo).
• Creo is what is used onsite and there is no time to train someone so you must have current Creo knowledge
• Working evidence on the application of a wide range of classical hand calculation techniques for Thermal Analyses.
• Experienced in the integration of Printed Circuit Boards within a mechanical structure, with proven knowledge of electrical screening, grounding, etc.
• Proven experience in the thermal analysis of Printed Circuit Boards within a mechanical structure, with comprehensive knowledge of thermal management techniques.
• Experienced in various aspects of DfX, including Manufacturing, Assembly, Test, Integration and Sustainability.
• Detail and assembly drawing generation, in accordance with BS8888.
• Numerical calculations, tolerance studies, etc.

Desirable:

• Experience of practical test methods for design verification related to Thermal requirements.
• Experience in Thermal Analysis using Siemens NX.
