Overview Our insurance clients engage us to solve their most complex problems, helping them to shape and deliver a strategy in response to new competition, the increased focus on the Digital environment, and the rise of the number of InsurTechs revolutionising the competitive landscape.
As part of this team, you'll work alongside a team of Insurance specialists from across Insurance markets and will be able to quickly build upon your existing industry knowledge and consultancy skills to develop your expertise. We will be looking to you to help lead project teams and develop the talent and insight in our community.
As part of Insurance Operations & Domain Solutions team, you'll be working with a multitude of market leading teams from Deloitte to deliver value to our clients across the full delivery lifecycle starting from strategy and proposition definition to detailed operations and tech design, and being part of engineering and implementation teams to deliver for our clients. We have a diverse team with vast knowledge, experience and backgrounds enabling us to provide the best value to our clients. Personal independence Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints (e.g., in relation to any financial interests and employment relationships). This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm, and also prohibitions on certain employment relationships (e.g., you are not permitted to hold a secondary employment role with SEC audit clients of the firm whilst being employed by the firm). - Design and architect innovative technology solutions that optimise and transform insurance operations across the value chain (e.g., Underwriting, Policy Administration, Claims).
- Provide technical design governance, solution quality assurance and design reviews to keep complex technology programmes on track against industry good practice and standards.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and Business Architects to translate business requirements and future-state architectures into detailed technical solutions.
- Define and document solution architectures, including infrastructure, applications, data, and integration points, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles and security standards.
- Own and develop architectural artefacts, such as high-level design documents, reference architectures, functional or technical design specifications and integration designs.
- Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and platforms to meet business needs, considering factors such as scalability, performance, security, and cost-effectiveness.
- Provide technical leadership throughout the solution development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to implementation and testing.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, particularly in areas such as cloud computing, AI/ML, automation, and data analytics, to identify opportunities for innovation within insurance operations.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and high performance while providing guidance on career progression.
- Contribute to the growth of the practice's thought leadership by developing insightful content and perspectives on emerging trends in insurance operations and transformation.
- Champion diversity and inclusion within the team and contribute to broader practice development initiatives.
- Lead business development work such as pre-sales, bid preparation and client presentations.
- Participate in internal Deloitte practice development activities to assist the growth of the insurance practice and the Industry Solutions division including supporting the firm's commitment to creating a more diverse and inclusive culture.
- Be open to continuing education in keeping oneself updated on the latest skill sets & certifications.
Professional experience needs to include:
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect with a strong track record of designing and delivering complex technology solutions within the insurance industry or a related financial services sector.
- Deep understanding of insurance operations and the technology landscape supporting these functions.
- Expertise in designing and integrating solutions across various technology domains, including cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), data management, APIs, microservices, and security.
- Analyse and define solution options and broker buy-in, gather consensus and drive decision making from business and IT stakeholders.
- Work and collaborate with third party vendors for designing solutions and ability to manage vendor relationships.
- Support clients with identification of leading vendors for package solutions, defining RFI/RFP frameworks across Underwriting, Policy Administration and Claims.
- Assessment of existing application estate and provide remediations including definition of technology roadmap underpinned by overall technology vision.
- Strong knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevOps) and experience working with both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure.
- Experience in implementing AI-driven solution within the general insurance lifecycle (e.g., claims automation, fraud detection, risk assessment, etc.) is highly desirable.
