Our Actuarial & Consulting Team
As part of this role you'll be working in Isio's Actuarial & Consulting team - over 400 pensions consultants and actuaries advising a diverse range of clients and stakeholders across the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.
We advise on everything from helping trustees and sponsors to manage their defined benefit plans, running large scale communications projects and implementing alternative reward and pension provision. The range of work we get involved with is vast and there'll be opportunities for you to gain lots of great, new experiences and put your skills to the test.
This particular role will be as a post transaction specialist, part of our Risk Settlement team. This team of over 35 colleagues offers full insurance de-risking services for Trustees and Sponsors of Defined Benefit pension schemes and also provides services directly to insurers. Isio are a market leader in this area, having completed around 1 in 6 bulk annuity transactions in the market in 2024.
This is a key strategic area for Isio. Building on our current successes and enhancing our propositions to meet evolving market needs, we anticipate significant growth in this sector over the coming years. This role therefore provides an opportunity for an individual to work in an exciting area that is a key strategic focus.
Role and Responsibilities
We're looking for experienced consultants with relevant post transaction risk settlement experience to help continue to grow this specialist team.
As a challenger in the industry, we are looking for individuals with excellent pensions consulting and technical skills, a commercial outlook and an entrepreneurial mindset.
Day to day, you will be:
- Managing a variety of pension schemes from buy-in through to buyout and wind-up.
- Using project management skills to support clients with efficiently navigating the journey to wind-up, collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
- Building relationships with clients and prospective clients, their advisors and the wider risk-settlement team to ensure smooth progress of these projects.
- As well as being involved in the technical aspects of projects, this will also involve working with and building relationships with clients directly, working as part of a team and developing those around you.
- Assisting in the development of new business, both with existing and new clients
- Technical aspects of this role would include:
- Understanding the pensions insurance industry and building relationships with insurers.
- Understanding the processes that need to be completed for a scheme to be able to buyout and wind-up.
- Supporting clients in post-transaction processes through to wind-up.
- Effective communication skills to be able to produce clear and concise documents, emails and presentations.
Key Skills & Experience

- Experience -relevant post transaction risk settlement industry experience.
- Technical knowledge - excellent UK pensions knowledge and experience of legislative requirements for pension scheme wind-ups.
- A great communicator - someone who can explain complex problems in a simple way to help everyone around the table understand.
- Enthusiasm and motivation - a great deal of desire for solving problems and delivering excellent outcomes.
- Excellent project management and client delivery skills - especially when balancing multiple demands.
- A great team worker - this will either be as part of a team, or managing a team, depending on your experience.
- Commercial skills - to help us develop our business and look for new opportunities.
- Qualifications - A formal actuarial qualification may be beneficial butis not essential for this role.

Where is the role?
Our Risk Settlement team are based across many of our UK offices. We can therefore offer a range of locations for you to choose from - including Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Croydon, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester and Reading.
We work on a hybrid basis, offering the opportunity for colleagues to split their time between working in the office and at home.
