About this opportunityWe have an exciting opportunity for someone to gain experience in a temporary role as a Senior Manager working in the Assistant Chief Executive Office. The post holder will lead the Council's programme management office (PMO) function to support and drive forward organisational change and transformation.
The focus is on supporting the organisation to progress the delivery priorities that are set out in the Council Plan Annual Plan for 25/26. This requires collaboration various services to support and enable change so the organisation can adapt to new ways of working in line with our target operating model.
You will be spearheading the Council's organisational change, working closely with senior leaders. You will oversee the development and execution of a Programme of delivery priorities to drive forward improvement and change, ensuring services align with the Council's vision. This includes collaborating with various stakeholders, innovating and challenging current practices for improvement, and managing multiple complex projects simultaneously. Strong leadership, analytical and communication skills are crucial for success in this high-profile position.
Qualifications, Experience, and Knowledge- Seasoned professional programme management and change programmes, with experience of delivering transformation in the public sector and with a breadth of understanding of all areas that the role covers.
- Degree and post graduate qualifications (or willing to work towards a post graduate qualification if not already gained) in relevant disciplines, and/or leadership and management qualifications with demonstrable continuing professional development.
- Experience of developing and shaping business cases, covering a range of services with an ability to plan and prioritise activity to enable benefits realisation.
- Experience of leading a function or department within a complex and diverse organisation.
- In-depth understanding of regulations/legislation, community and voluntary sector development, and social inclusion, with a thorough understanding of national and local government developments, policy, and emerging trends.
