Senior Locally Employed Doctor in Emergency Medicine
Posted 1 day 21 hours ago by NHS
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Emergency Medicine Team at Wythenshawe Hospital, part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking to appoint Senior Clinical Fellows (Senior Locally Employed Doctors) to complement our team. The closing date is 17 February 2026.
You will be working in one of Greater Manchester's busiest hospitals, where over 100,000 patients are assessed in the Emergency Department every year. We seek to recruit dynamic individuals to work in our state-of-the-art ED, including a Paediatric Emergency Department, Urgent Treatment Centre, Resuscitation area, and Same Day Emergency Care unit which offers a front-door service for Medical and Respiratory referrals.
The post holders will be expected to provide exceptional patient care. The job offers opportunities to develop special interests and maintain skills by managing paediatric and adult acute emergencies. Sim sessions, regular ultrasound training, and a daily dedicated Consultant shift promoting educational activities are available.
Manchester is a great place to live with a vibrant cosmopolitan culture. Wythenshawe Hospital is a short commute from suburbs such as Didsbury, Chorlton and Trafford. Access to the hospital is available by car, motorway, tram, or cycle routes.
Main duties of the jobDue to the short-term nature of the role, the successful candidate must hold a current registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) at the time of application. Whether it is an active licence, ceased licence or a pending application, MFT cannot sponsor GMC sponsorship for vacancies of less than 12 months fixed term. Candidates who do not meet this criterion will not progress to shortlisting.
Please note: MFT is not a right-to-work sponsoring organisation for Tier 5. If Tier 5 sponsorship is required, candidates should apply through the Academy of Royal Colleges via the MTI Scheme.
Please refer to the Job Description and Person Specification for full details. Although this is not a Deanery-approved training post, successful candidates will share the same rota as other trainees.
The post holders are expected to provide exceptional patient care while benefiting from a bespoke training programme and quality improvement activities.
