Job Description

Job Title: Senior Legal Project Manager - Client Strategy Office

Location: London

Department: Finance

Working Hours & Flexible Working

35 hours per week (9:30am - 5:30pm). Additional hours may be required. Up to 40% of time may be worked from home, with a hybrid schedule of 60% in office.

Role Overview

Join a dynamic environment where you will operate at the heart of client strategy, collaborating with senior managers, client relationship partners, matter supervising partners and top tier business leaders. You will take ownership of a client retainer account, deliver clear, actionable financial reporting to firm and client leadership, and provide robust management information that empowers business growth. You will also design and refine processes, oversee budgets, and ensure seamless project delivery from start to finish, championing efficiency and innovation across legal teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead training initiatives for in house legal teams and mentor junior colleagues.
  • Own and manage a client retainer account exceeding $60million, ensuring efficient delivery of activities, budgeting and client reporting.
  • Oversee intake processes for new client instructions, guaranteeing smooth onboarding and workflow initiation.
  • Supervise an annual secondment programme in partnership with HR, partners and firm management, selecting appropriate secondees.
  • Manage the client onboarding programme for all internal lawyers.
  • Identify and embed efficiency and innovation solutions, developing best practice processes and supports.
  • Support the build out of Legal Project Management capability across the firm.
  • Prepare weekly and quarterly reporting for CRPs, partners and firm management, including dashboard reports and fee/progress updates.
  • Assist in the quarterly internal financial allocation process.
  • Maintain quality control for time recording and execute corrective actions on matters.
  • Manage matter scoping, budgeting, workstream planning, oversight, tracking and data analysis.
  • Serve as the key point of contact both within the firm and for the client, fostering profitable growth and strengthening client relationships.
  • Advocate for the implementation, utilisation and development of LPM best practices, tools and software.
  • Coordinate with other business services teams such as Pricing, Finance, IT, Knowledge, Marketing, M&BD and external vendors.
Account Management
  • Act as the key point of contact for the firm and the client, working with senior managers and partner teams to facilitate smooth operation of the client account.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to develop and strengthen client relationships with a focus on profitable growth.
  • Support the overall delivery of client programmes and value add services.

Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an LPM or senior PMO, with advanced knowledge of project and account management processes.
  • Client facing project management experience.
  • A proven track record of championing and delivering change and innovative solutions.
  • Large firm consultative experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in scoping, budgeting, project planning, workflow management and post matter reviews.
  • Excellent analytical skills; ability to produce engaging, concise, timely management advice.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerBI (or comparable BI software) proficiency.
  • Deep knowledge of law firm management metrics and daily practice interactions.
  • Project management qualification desirable (e.g., PRINCE2, APM).
  • Database management and data visualisation experience valued.
  • Familiarity with Omnitrack, SharePoint, HighQ, SmartSheet, PowerBI or other PM software.
