Senior Lawyer (Children and Families)

SENIOR LAWYER - CHILDREN & FAMILIES FULLY REMOTE £50-£60 PER HOUR LOCUM
CRA Consulting are currently working with Manchester City Council to recruit an experienced Senior Lawyer specialising in Children & Families to join their Legal Services team on a long-term locum basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Children & Families lawyer looking for a fully remote position, working within an established local authority legal team.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality legal advice and representation on complex Children & Families matters, supporting the Council and its partners across a challenging and varied caseload.
The Role
You will be responsible for providing specialist legal advice and representation on a range of complex matters, including:

• Providing legal advice to social care and other Council departments on complex Children & Families matters
• Managing a challenging and varied caseload with a high degree of autonomy
• Advising on care proceedings and other proceedings involving children and families
• Representing the Council in court and other formal proceedings
• Preparing cases, drafting legal documents and providing strategic advice
• Working closely with social workers, senior managers and other professionals
• Advising on complex and sensitive issues and providing clear, practical and solution-focused legal advice
• Contributing to the development and improvement of legal services
• Supporting colleagues and sharing knowledge and expertise within the wider legal team

About You
We're looking for an experienced Children & Families lawyer who can demonstrate:

• Qualification as a Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive
• Strong experience in Children & Families / Social Care law
• Experience handling complex care proceedings and related matters
• Strong advocacy and court experience
• The ability to provide high-quality, commercially aware and pragmatic legal advice
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to work independently and manage a demanding caseload
• Previous local authority experience is highly desirable

Rate:£50-£60 per hour
