Java Developer - Market Data Platform (Contract)

At Trust in Soda, we partner with some of the world's most forward-thinking organisations. Right now, we're supporting a prestigious financial institution as they evolve their Market Data technology landscape.
We're looking for an experienced Java Developer to join a team modernising and scaling a business-critical Real Time platform. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the refactoring and future development of a high-performance market data distribution system, leveraging modern architecture, cloud technology and agile delivery methods.

Your Mission

• Take a lead role in the refactoring and extension of a complex Market Data platform
• Design and implement scalable, high-performance components for Real Time data streaming
• Ensure platform reliability and performance through strong software engineering principles
• Champion standardisation, automation, and modern DevOps practices
• Collaborate in an agile, team-first environment, promoting a culture of mentoring and feedback

• 5+ years of Java development experience (Java 11+)
• Strong background in solution architecture, microservices & distributed systems
• Familiarity with Real Time data platforms and market data (vendors, entitlement, asset classes)
• Proven experience with multi-threading, memory management and performance tuning
• Hands-on experience with Kafka, Azure Cloud, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and Grafana
• Test-driven development mindset (JUnit, Mockito)
• Experience working in Front Office environments or financial markets
• Strong understanding of security, observability, life cycle management & deployment pipelines
• Agile/SAFe experience with Jira & Confluence
• Collaborative mindset: pair programming, code reviews, mentoring junior engineers
• Excellent communication skills in English and a proactive, positive attitude

• Functional programming experience in Java
• Experience with Octopus or other CI/CD tooling
• Familiarity with Scripting and certificate management
• Previous experience working in regulated financial institutions
