Senior Interaction Designer

On behalf of FCDO, we are looking for a Senior Interaction Designer Inside IR35 for a 6 month contract based REMOTELY

SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active SV clearance.

As a Senior Interaction Designer, your main responsibilities will be:

Essential:
. Sketching, concept creation and prototype design. Journey mapping with good understanding of information design/architecture. Working with pattern libraries and/or style guidelines.
. Evidence-based design: Analyse, synthesise and clearly explain complex evidence relevant to users or a service, for example, large data sets. Use complex research and data to develop and test design ideas. Collaborate with user researchers, championing user research activities and designing to meet user needs.
. Leading design: Lead and coordinate design work in your team, with support. Work with digital and data leaders in your organisation, when needed.
. Design communication: Manage stakeholder needs and expectations and facilitate difficult discussions within the team or with diverse senior stakeholders. Clearly document and communicate design decisions, related risks and any unresolved issues. Build consensus around a design approach, for example, by asking difficult questions and challenging assumptions
. Designing iteratively: Iterate and improve complex designs based on successive rounds of research. Independently prototype complex ideas at an appropriate fidelity. Adapt designs quickly to changes in requirements, priorities or user needs. Prototype using a range of methods, including HTML, CSS/SCSS, Figma/Sketch/Adobe XD and collaborating with teams and stakeholders in prototyping activities. Understanding of web technologies and limitations and how they affect design, including accessibility.
