The Role: As a key member of the wider home pricing and underwriting team your role is to lead the account management team and to form long term views of profitability that enable us to set pricing levels that balance growth and profitability over the long term. Key Accountabilities: Leading and managing a team of c.4-5 colleagues, you'll set a collaborative environment which enables all our colleagues to achieve their best Responsible for judging the long-term profitability of the home portfolios (including considering the long-term impact of weather) and recommending base rates that balance growth and profitability using various tools and projection methods Analysing various data sources (including internal loss data and industry data) to form views on home claims inflation. Liaising closely with the claims team to align views across teams Create forecasted views of expected frequency and severity by peril, including allowing for volatile elements of losses like large and weather Developing claims to ultimate to form views on the profitability of the business we've written historically and are now writing today Work closely with the Actuarial and Data Science team which develops loss cost models to form views on pricing strength Track our reinsurance spend and feed into strategies to help reduce reinsurance costs as a proportion of our premium Track day to day conversion and pro-actively make recommendations on when to grow by how much, based on market condition and our internal views of profitability Work closely with risk pricing to understand and quantify the impact of recent price changes on the profitability of emerging written business. Oversee the creation of dashboards and automated reports that will ensure we have the right information at our fingertips to make the right decisions Report views of profitability and trading performance to senior management on a regular basis Main point of contact for home performance for several internal teams including claims, reserving and finance Knowledge and Skills: Collaborates well with colleagues from own team and other teams Enjoys leading a team and setting a working environment in which all our colleagues can thrive Able to turn data into insights and get to the "so what" of what the data is telling us Ability to present teams findings to other areas of the business Experience of developing claims to ultimate and the pros and cons of different techniques that can be used for this Comfortable working with and analysing numerical/statistical data Thirst for making change Appetite to learn new skills Inquisitive, curious nature Critically evaluates information Enthusiastic, positive attitude Good communication skills, written and verbal Confidence to express thoughts and views Good knowledge of the personal line's insurance market preferred, but other backgrounds will be considered Interview Process: Recruiter screening call1st Round - Intro call with Hiring manager2nd Round - Case study round What we will give you: Join us and you'll find a different way of doing things.
