Job Specification

Role Title: Senior Full-Stack Architect (Azure & Application Modernisation)

Location: Dublin, Ireland or UK (Hybrid)

Department: Application Modernisation & Enterprise Integration

About Codec

Codec is an award-winning digital transformation company with big growth ambitions. We are an established full-stack IT consultancy, a local alternative to the Big 4, headquartered in Dublin with offices in Galway, Belfast, London, Poland, and Germany.

We are growing rapidly and have crafted a clear vision of the future, developing our own 'IP' to complement the Cloud stacks from Microsoft and Oracle. As we expand our Application Modernisation team, we are seeking a "Hands-On Architect"-someone who can design complex systems on a whiteboard and then sit down to write the core code that powers them.

The Role

This is a hybrid Architect/Developer role. You will be part of a cross-functional team delivering robust, user-friendly public-facing portals and enterprise integration hubs.

You are the technical standard-bearer for the squad. While the Principal Architect sets the strategy and the Lead runs the project, you own the Solution Design. You will decide how the components fit together, define the coding patterns, and mentor the development team to ensure the vision is executed correctly. You will work heavily with the Microsoft UI stack (Razor/Blazor) or Angular 15+, backed by Azure Serverless technologies.

Key Responsibilities Solution Design & Architecture
  • Technical Definition: Define the granular architecture for web applications, selecting the right Azure services (Web Apps, Functions, Containers) to meet the requirements.
  • Integration Strategy: Design seamless integrations with back-end systems, specifically focusing on Dynamics 365 Dataverse connectivity and Enterprise Service Bus messaging patterns.
  • Database Design: Architect data layers using Cosmos DB (NoSQL) or SQL Server, ensuring optimal performance for transactional data stores.
Hands-On Development
  • Core Engineering: Write the critical path code. You will build the complex REST APIs, background services, and reusable front-end components that the rest of the team will leverage.
  • Full-Stack Execution: Work fluidly across the stack, developing responsive portals using Blazor/Razor or Angular, and connecting them to robust .NET C# back-ends.
Mentorship & Quality
  • Technical Oversight: Act as a technical advisor for a sub-team of developers. You will review Pull Requests (PRs), enforce coding standards, and provide guidance to reduce technical blockers.
  • CI/CD & DevOps: Develop and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines and unit test suites to ensure code reliability and smooth deployment to Azure.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Architectural Experience: 8-10 years of development experience, with at least 3+ years acting in a Senior/Architect capacity.

  • Microsoft Stack Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of .NET C#, REST API development, and the Microsoft UI Technologies (Razor/Blazor) or Angular 10+.
  • Azure Depth: Deep familiarity with Azure App Services, Function Apps, and Containerisation.
  • Data Fluency: Proficiency in designing for both NoSQL (Cosmos DB/Mongo) and Relational (SQL) databases.
  • Integration Patterns: Strong working knowledge of Enterprise Service Bus messaging patterns and experience integrating with platforms like Dynamics 365/Dataverse.
Location & Eligibility
  • Hybrid Working: Codec supports hybrid working; however, on-site working will be required where expected by customers.
  • Right to Work: Candidates must be currently located in Ireland or the UK with existing Right to Work approval.
