Senior Frontend Engineer

A leading digital travel platform - serving millions of users and undergoing rapid national and international expansion - is looking for a Senior Web Engineer to join their team.

Their mission? To make travel booking smoother, smarter, and more delightful through cutting-edge technology and a best-in-class customer experience.

What They're Looking For

They're searching for a seasoned Web Engineer who thrives on working with modern front-end and back-end technologies in a high-traffic, consumer-facing environment. If you bring strong computer science fundamentals and enjoy working across the stack (with a heavier focus on front end), this could be the perfect opportunity.

You'll be joining one of several cross-functional feature teams, working closely with full-stack developers, designers, QA testers, and product owners.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Build and evolve core user-facing features using React.js, TypeScript, and Next.js
  • Contribute to backend services using Node.js
  • Play a key role in improving front-end performance, design systems, and user experience
  • Shape best practices for engineering across the website team
  • Collaborate within a Kanban-like workflow, contributing to design and technical decisions
  • Support the drive for innovation by contributing to R&D (10% of your time is allocated to exploration)

Key Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working with TypeScript and React.js
  • Strong experience in Node.js backend development
  • Familiarity with Next.js, PostgreSQL, and cloud platforms (esp. GCP)
  • Practical knowledge of DevOps, especially with Terraform
  • Excellent understanding of web fundamentals: CDNs, CMSs, analytics, performance, and security
  • Degree in Computer Science (ideally Master's level)

Bonus Points For

  • Experience building or scaling high-traffic websites
  • Familiarity with design systems, test automation, A/B testing, and user tracking
  • Experience working in the travel, booking, or hospitality sector
  • Contributions to the open-source community

Work Environment & Benefits

  • Hybrid work model: enjoy a flexible split between remote and office work
  • A collaborative, flat-structured team that encourages input at all levels
  • An inspiring office environment located in central Amsterdam
  • Perks include:
  • Competitive compensation
  • Travel allowances
  • Exclusive employee travel discounts
  • Full travel and cancellation insurance
  • Ongoing support for your learning and development - including paid time for upskilling, courses, and attending conferences
