Job Description

An excellent opportunity is available for a Senior Financial Accountant (h/f) to contribute to a renowned not-for-profit organization in Geneva, Switzerland, on a fixed-term maternity cover.
The role is available immediately and offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement.

Senior Financial Accountant (h/f)

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily bookkeeping operations by processing outgoing and incoming payments as well as journal entries with scrupulous attention to detail.
  • Safeguard the accuracy of financial accounts whilst ensuring the monthly closing cycle proceeds efficiently in support of organisational objectives.
  • Assume responsibility for regional and country-specific financial reporting, with foresight towards future expansion into additional offices and markets.
  • Maintain and enhance the organisation's Chart of Accounts so as to ensure robust financial systems are established for effective management.
  • Provide invoicing assistance utilising internal software, guaranteeing all transactions are processed with precision and timeliness.
  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns for Geneva tax authorities by reconciling VAT general ledger accounts with exactitude.
  • Conduct quarterly reconciliations for project marketplace transactions and related transfers to project owners, thereby ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Oversee year-end closing activities and prepare comprehensively for the annual audit process in order to uphold compliance standards.
  • Deliver regular instructional sessions to staff and direct reports regarding finance-related policies, fostering understanding across teams.
  • Engage professionally with tax authorities, insurance companies, and federal foundation supervisory bodies so as to maintain full compliance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or accounting or above diplomas.
  • 7+ experience in a comparable finance role within a fast-moving office environment
  • Advnaced knowledge of Swiss GAAP and IFRS accounting principles
  • Desire to probe further into data.
  • Proven record of efficiency improvements to existing processes.
