Job Purpose

Reporting to the Financial Controller, ANZ, managing the Actuals & Reporting finance function, ensuring that effective reporting and controls are in place and managed to support a diversified and substantial business, delivering the period and year-end close processes for the ANZ Region.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Manages the relationship with the service provider to ensure accurate and timely delivery of monthly accounting tasks to produce robust financial data to support the close of period and year end; closely managing timelines and quality, raising, discussing and resolving issues with the service provider lead where required.
  • Supporting the Financial Controller, ANZ to produce monthly data for the consolidated ANZ Group submissions, and periodic reports of territory performance
  • Provides analysis, interpretation and variance commentary of ANZ results
  • Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations Review ANZ
  • Manage the transition of any additional outsourced tasks to the service provider, inclusive of knowledge transfer, documentation, and stabilisation of activities. Work with the service provide to identify efficiencies and simplification of workflow.
  • Review payroll reports and process and ensure funding is carried out to meet various payroll deadlines.
  • Reconcile content Programme Asset Register (PAR) to Accounting system SAP and work with content team and offshore finance team to resolve errors and omissions.
  • Lead and direct the A&R function to perform activities required to fulfil local statutory obligations for tax and audit filings across ANZ, inclusive of:
  • ANZ Annual Income tax and FBT returns, together with tax accounting entries
  • Monthly BAS return and manage withholding tax process across all markets
  • Review payroll tax reconciliation and wages declaration for payroll statutory compliance
  • Work with A&R team and external auditors to deliver on the annual audit process in ANZ
  • Provide technical training, support and advice to finance team members, and guidance on technical matters to business stakeholders; liaise with internal financial accounting team and external parties for access to resources to ensure teams remain up to date on the latest technical accounting developments
  • Subject matter expert for financial systems underpinning actuals reporting, sharing knowledge and best practice with local teams and building network across global finance community
  • Continually review, recommend and manage implementation for improvements in business processes and systems
  • Provides adhoc analysis and assistance with regional and global business activities and projects
  • Adheres to and helps to enforce and improve financial controls and accounting policies
Strategic Planning and Decision Making

Point of contact for Actuals & Reporting for ANZ performance, and communicating territory and line of business performance to colleagues and business stakeholders. As part of a relatively small team, it is important for the incoming person to be a self-starter, willing to take on tasks and projects that may not fall directly within their remit, and be prepared to get involved in various aspects of the business.

Relationships

Reports directly to Financial Controller, ANZ

Maintain strong links, via regular face-to-face/phone/email/VC contact, with:

  • Other members of the ANZ Finance team including the SVP Finance - ANZ
  • Wider global finance community including Group Finance and Global Distribution Finance, Content Partnerships Finance, Legal, Tax, Treasury and Audit teams as necessary
  • Business Management and budget owners across ANZ
Knowledge, Skills and Education

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Professional Accounting Qualification (Fully Qualified)
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • High level of competence in Financial / ERP systems - SAP S/4HANA and BPC (preferable)
  • Provide quick accurate and insightful analysis
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to guide and direct the service provider
  • Organisational ability
  • Commercial acumen
  • Analytical and financial modelling skills
  • A passionate commitment to BBC Studios' values and vision
Professional Experience
  • Financial and management accounting experience in a multi-national organisation
  • Previous experience of financial analysis and statutory accounting and reporting
  • Strong working knowledge of ANZ compliance requirements - tax, and other regulatory bodies
  • Advanced Excel skills
