This role is a key part of the Consumer Finance team, acting as a strategic business partner to the Consumer Acquisition team. This team is responsible for delivering approximately700,000 new customers and £90 million in cashannually. AsDeputy to the Head of Consumer Finance, you'll provide leadership and support, stepping in when required.
You'll play a central role in:
- Monitoring performancetracking, analysing and providing insight on performance across key metrics and evolving initiatives
- Leading the forecasting process, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business goals
- Delivering ad hoc scenario analysisto support informed, data-driven decision-making
In addition, you'll take full ownership of the cost base within your remit, including:
- AllOnline and Offline Direct Responseand other customer acquisition costs
- Staff costsacross the entire Consumer team
- Weekly monitoring and projectionsof B2C holdings (memberships), one of the AA's most critical non-financial KPIs
AsSenior Finance Manager - Consumer, you'll play a pivotal role in driving financial insight, performance, and strategic decision-making across the Consumer business. Your key responsibilities will include:
Commercial Finance & Business Partnering
- Acting as a senior business partner, identifying and projecting the key drivers of cost and income performance
- Leading forecasting and budgeting across all areas, with a focus on holdings, cash, income, and EBITDA
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with commercial teams and senior stakeholders
- Attending weekly trading meetings, challenging channel owners on performance and driving accountability
- Evaluating new propositions and developing new processes and analysis to enhance insight
- Supporting the growth of the SME (Small & Medium Enterprise) market segment
- Challenging decisions constructively to ensure optimal profitability
- Owning and managing cost per acquisition (CPA) calculations by channel, ensuring efficient spend
- Leading month-end reporting for all relevant costs, ensuring accuracy and clarity on year-to-go P&L impact
- Tracking and enhancing customer lifetime value (LTV) analysis, assessing the impact of pricing and performance
- Leading econometric analysis from a finance perspective
- Producing a weekly "early view" document projecting month-end outcomes and performance trends
- Maintaining and reviewing the staff cost model for the Consumer function, ensuring accurate forecasting and budgeting
- Collaborating closely with the wider Consumer Finance team to ensure collective delivery of key outputs
- Leading and mentoring two direct reports, while supporting the wider team to drive change and meet shared goals
- Contributing to ad hoc projects and supporting the broader Finance function as needed
Leadership & Team Management
- Providing clear direction and leadership to your team
- Communicating effectively to ensure alignment and engagement
- Managing performance and addressing underperformance where necessary
- Ensuring the team has the right skills and capabilities, with clear roles and responsibilities
- Keeping HR systems up to date with accurate team structures and responsibilities
Capability, Knowledge & Experience
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team, confidently present insights and ideas, and constructively challenge decisions to ensure the best outcomes
- Extensive experience in business partnering, particularly with Sales and/or Marketing teams, with the gravitas to influence and challenge senior stakeholders effectively
Education & Qualifications
- Fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with substantial post-qualification experience and a strong understanding of full P&L ownership, including the impact of propositions and trading
- Experience withSAPandBPCis advantageous
- Proficient inMicrosoft Excel(including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs, etc.) to support financial modelling and analysis

- Collaborative and adaptable, able to respond effectively to changing trading conditions
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities calmly and efficiently
