Senior Engineering Manager

Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Engineering Manager to work with the Energy Team, covering the SSE ASTI Framework.

A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Engineering Manager:

1. Lead the engineering design delivery of existing major Transmission HV 132/275/400kV Substation new build and extension projects.
2. Lead Design Management requirements at tender and/or Early Contractor Engagement stage and allocate resources as appropriate during tender, FEED, and detailed design stages.
3. Integrate multiple engineering disciplines including HV Plant, Protection and Control, and Civils from a mix of internal and external designers and OEMs.
4. Undertake the role of Principal Design Representative on project(s), ensuring design information is being suitably managed to the various roles and compliant with the requirements of CDM 2015 Regulations.
5. Participate in the development of Business Unit and Group Design Management continual process improvement activities.
6. Review design pack submissions for technical compliance, quality, and completeness.
7. Develop and assist project Planners in maintaining the design and engineering aspects of programmes.
8. Monitor and expedite key engineering programme issues, including procurement of services and equipment to the Business Unit Procurement function.
9. Review and liaise with internal Temporary Works Coordinators and Designers to ensure appropriate consideration of constructability and required permanent works.
10. Ensure understanding of, and influence on, contracts with Design Consultants, including fees, scope of services, programme, liabilities, and warranties.
11. Review and comment on payment applications from consultants and pass them to the contract surveyor for processing and payment.

• Experience managing multi-disciplinary design packages on HV Power Projects.
• Electrical engineering education (preferably to degree level) and High Voltage project design experience.
• Experience acting as Principal Designer Representative under CDM 2015.
• Experience delivering substation projects for UK Transmission Service Operators (SSEN, National Grid, Scottish Power Energy Networks, NIE Networks) is desirable.
• Membership of a UK Engineering institute.
