Job Title: Senior Engineer - Auxiliary Systems

Salary: Up to £49,400 dependent on skills and experience
What you'll be doing:- Participate in developing, maintaining and modifying engineering processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational need.
- Carry out specialist technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability.
- Prepare specifications, develop designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards, and carry out design appraisals in assigned areas to ensure all standards are maintained.
- Carry out investigations into operational problems or developments and develop and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of a project team.
- Support the Principal engineer as the specialist point of contact with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters, to resolve problems and issues and to maintain awareness in both parties of priorities and objectives.
- Provide help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working and their development.
- Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility
- Experience within an Engineering or Defence related industry
- Experience and expertise in Marine Engineering Systems
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of fluid system design including flow modelling, flow calculations, use of pipes and valves as well as some of the below:
- Hydraulics and compressed gas systems.
- Petroleum, Oils and Lubricants (POL).
- Water Systems, including Chilled Water.
- Waste Management Systems
- Bilge, Sullage and Ballast Systems
- Scuppers, drains, vent and air escape systems
Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution.
Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation.
Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.

BAE Systems Naval Ships - Auxiliary Systems:The BAE Systems Naval Ships - Auxiliary Systems team are responsible for the design and delivery of complex warship systems. As a Senior Engineer you are responsible for undertaking a wide range of engineering activities, such as creation of Stage 1 design documentation including schematics, design calculations and technical specifications.
