Senior Design Engineer

FINTEC recruit is supporting hiring for a Senior Design Engineer within the Maritime/shipping industry. This is a permanent role, hybrid -3 days office based. Salary is negotiable by experience with salary up to circa £75,000 plus benefits. There is travel to China 1 week per quarter plus client visits. All travel planned in advance. Candidates with English/Mandarin language skills welcomed due to regular travel to China. Relocation assistance available and support with Visa sponsorship where required for this position. Responsibilities

• Lead on mechanical design lifecycle from concept through to detailed design and manufacture/production, delivering designs ready for manufacture & delivery
• Produce 3D models, manufacturing engineering drawings and calculations
• Improving on design standards, manufacturability, cost and resolution of any design issues
• Liaising with international suppliers on delivery
• Coach and mentor junior engineers supporting with quality and delivery

Skills and Experience required for the Senior Design Engineer role

• Degree qualification in Mechanical, Structural, or Marine Engineering
• Have hands on experience designing mechanical systems in a production environment
• Proven ability to deliver designs from concept through to production within marine, wind, offshore, or similar sectors
• Strong proficiency in Siemens NX, Inventor, or equivalent 3D CAD tools
• Experience with fabrication, welding, or large structural assemblies
• Strong understanding of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) principles
• Experience with maritime class or certification requirements, such as DNV or LR
• English/Mandarin language skills desirable due to travel in China, not an essential
