Endeavour Recruitment has an excellent, long term freelance opportunity for a Senior Data Scientist with strong expertise in Fraud Detection and a proven track record of building production-grade AI solutions within complex data environments

Start Date: August 2026

Daily Rate: €650

Location: Brussels

Working Pattern: Hybrid (50% onsite)

Requirement: Candidates must reside in Belgium for the full duration of the assignment.

About the Role

Join a leading Artificial Intelligence Tribe dedicated to delivering a seamless banking experience for customers while empowering employees through cutting-edge AI solutions.

You'll become part of a multidisciplinary team of approximately 90 AI professionals, including Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Business Analysts, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Managers. Together, the team develops innovative AI applications ranging from virtual assistants and employee productivity tools to intelligent automation and advanced fraud detection solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and continuously improve machine learning models for fraud detection.
• Collect, label, curate and structure large datasets while performing advanced feature engineering to improve fraud models.
• Transform large volumes of transactional and customer data into actionable fraud intelligence.
• Apply machine learning, anomaly detection, graph analytics and behavioural analytics techniques to identify fraudulent activity.
• Investigate complex fraud schemes, uncover emerging attack vectors and develop proactive detection strategies.
• Partner closely with Fraud Operations, Risk, Compliance and Product teams to translate business challenges into scalable AI solutions.
• Contribute to the deployment and continuous improvement of production AI applications.

Experience

• Minimum 7 years' experience as a Data Scientist, ideally within the financial services sector.
• Strong commercial experience in Fraud Detection.
• Candidates with outstanding academic backgrounds and slightly less experience may also be considered.

Education

• Master's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or another quantitative discipline.
• A PhD is advantageous but not essential.
