THE COMPANY

This established organisation is expanding its data function to support continued growth and improve decision-making across the business.

Joining a developing team, you'll have the opportunity to shape reporting standards, improve access to trusted data and deliver insight that directly supports commercial performance.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Head of Data & Analytics, you'll combine hands-on BI development with commercial analysis and stakeholder engagement.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building and optimising SQL queries and scalable data models to support reporting and analysis.

  • Supporting the development of Microsoft Fabric and Azure capabilities, including ETL/ELT processes.

  • Partnering with pricing, product, marketing, finance and operations teams to understand requirements and prioritise delivery.

  • Analysing revenue, margins, customer behaviour and operational performance to identify opportunities and support decisions.

  • Improving reporting automation, self-service analytics, data quality and governance.

  • Presenting findings and recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders.

  • Mentoring junior colleagues and sharing technical best practice.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong experience in BI development or data analytics, with ownership of reporting solutions.

  • Advanced Power BI skills, including DAX, Power Query, semantic modelling and performance optimisation.

  • Strong SQL skills, including complex transformations, query optimisation and troubleshooting.

  • Experience building dimensional data models and developing ETL/ELT processes.

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure data technologies or comparable modern data platforms.

  • A strong understanding of commercial metrics, including revenue, profit, margin and forecasting.

  • Confidence managing competing priorities, challenging constructively and communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience supporting or mentoring junior colleagues.

Experience within retail, wholesale or a similarly fast-moving commercial environment would be advantageous.

THE BENEFITS

  • Salary of £50,000-£70,000, depending on experience.

  • 25 days' annual leave.

  • Hybrid working with three days in the office and two from home.

  • Ownership of BI delivery and the opportunity to influence a developing data function.

  • Exposure to senior stakeholders and commercially significant projects.

A driving licence is required. More frequent office attendance during the initial onboarding period would be beneficial. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
