Role Title: Senior Control and Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer

Location: Hybrid working with one of the following locations as primary: Derby, Warrington or Manchester

We are Rolls-Royce SMR, pioneering a groundbreaking industry transformation. This is a unique, once-in-a-career opportunity to leave a legacy through innovative work on a new type of power station.

We are seeking a Senior Control and Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer to contribute to a cutting-edge design project for a new power station. Your role will involve providing technical expertise throughout the lifecycle of C&I systems for the SMR nuclear power plant, including designing system architecture, specifying and selecting equipment, and working closely with engineering teams through a structured systems engineering approach.

The position involves working across the entire lifecycle of classified (nuclear safety) and non-classified C&I systems. You will act as a responsible designer and an informed customer, depending on the task, and may manage contract partners or support/mentor less experienced engineers.

We welcome candidates who meet at least 75% of the requirements and those considering a sector change or career move, as transferable skills are valued.

Pay and Benefits
  • Salary: £48,000 - £62,000 DOE
  • Performance bonus: 12.5%
  • Benefits Allowance: £2,200 per annum
  • Pension: 12% employer and 6% employee contributions
  • Holidays: 28 days plus public holidays, with options to buy or sell up to 4 days
  • Private Medical Insurance: BUPA single cover
  • Life Assurance: 6x pensionable pay
  • Starter bonus: £250 for home office purchases
