Job Description

My client, a leading logistics business is looking for a Senior Contract Manager within their Road Freight Transport Team, where you will take ownership of a portfolio of large-scale transport contracts and play a key role in driving operational excellence, customer satisfaction, compliance, and commercial performance.

Main duties:
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring escalated issues are resolved in a timely, professional, and mutually beneficial way, with corrective actions clearly agreed and managed through to completion.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for all Team Leaders.
  • Communicate regularly with the internal Contract Management and operational teams, keeping them informed of account priorities, changes and performance to support aligned service delivery.
  • Proactively develop and manage strategic and operational objectives that deliver measurable value to the client, keeping the client fully updated on progress, performance, risks, and value added.
  • Manage clients at operational, commercial, and senior stakeholder level to ensure service performance, contract compliance, and customer expectations are consistently achieved.
  • Hold P&L ownership across customers, managing margin and exercising commercial authority within agreed sign-off limits.
  • Identify account growth across customers, identifying and developing volume, upsell and cross-sell opportunities, and managing these with the relevant Contract Managers.
Skills and experience:
  • Proven track record of managing customer relationships within a transport, logistics, or operational environment.
  • Proven experience of managing multiple direct reports, including performance, absence, holiday, overtime, training, and day-to-day people-management processes.
  • Previous experience in road transport, road freight, logistics, or distribution operations.
  • Strong understanding of transport compliance, including drivers' hours, working time requirements, and safe operating practices.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage service and financial performance.
