Senior Consultant - Controls Data and AI, Chief Control Office

The Senior Consultant - AI and Data Specialist, Chief Control Office role is a key position within the 1LOD that supports the design and implementation of Northern Trust's internal control architecture, taxonomy, inventory and quality standards. The incumbent will develop AI solutions (defining use cases, prompting, output verification/validation) and manage large, complex data sets to help design and implement control initiatives across the organization.
Experience in Operational Risk and Control is desirable but not essential. The role requires strong problem solving, technology driven efficiency, and program/project delivery experience to support high profile initiatives. Verbal and written communication skills are essential for liaising with stakeholders and collaborating with senior business leaders.
This is a newly created function that demands self starting abilities, a proven track record of delivery and execution, and the ability to work effectively in a fast paced global environment.
Major Duties- Design and implement group wide control architecture, including taxonomy and inventory - defining minimum controls for all non financial risks.
- Develop control inventory with quality measures for all controls.
- Oversee and manage the control inventory, adopted by Control Owners, including governance and reporting.
- Set up the AI and data architecture that drives the team's activities.
- Use AI to drive efficiency and quality into all team initiatives.
- Seek and implement opportunities for increased use of automated controls and/or machine learning.
- Work with first and second line of defence risk and control partners to develop and enhance risk and control management best practices.
- Deep AI and data experience to drive efficiency and quality into team deliverables.
- Experience with Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) tools desirable.
- Practical experience supporting the development and/or implementation of risk and control frameworks desirable but not essential.
- Delivery focused mindset gained through project and/or program management experience.
- Critical thinker with strong problem solving abilities, able to organize and manage people and resources to prioritize issues and respond to senior management, Boards and key stakeholders.
- Strong communication (written and oral) skills, able to explain complex topics simply and concisely.
- Ability to engage a diverse set of stakeholders, build long term relationships, and create a collaborative environment.
- Strategic thinker, able to execute with precision and prioritize in a fast paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, management or a related field preferred.
