Job Description

Our Future Health will be the UK's largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new ways to detect, prevent, and treat diseases. Diseases like cancer, dementia, diabetes, and heart disease affect the lives of many people in our communities. Our goal is to create a world-leading resource for health research, to improve our understanding and spot the patterns of how and why common diseases start, so treatments can begin sooner and be more effective.

The ambition of Our Future Health differs from other large UK population cohorts in terms of scale and the aim to recruit much higher numbers of participants from groups who are not well represented in research i.e. ethnic minorities, younger people and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.

To support the delivery of our diversity work, the Senior Community Engagement Officer will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing approaches to engage underrepresented communities.

As Senior Community Engagement Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading on developing, co-creating, and testing bespoke content and promotional assets to make the programme more relatable for underrepresented communities
  • Working with Product and Content teams to provide insight and guidance to support the development of alternative approaches to product messaging and language that could help nudge specific communities through the recruitment funnel
  • Collaborating with the Product team and providing community insight to guide testing and optimisation of bespoke community landing pages, helping improve conversion rates across diverse groups
  • Leading on how we communicate our diversity work and increase our visibility externally via conferences, presentations, events and various communication channels
  • Ensuring the diversity / community engagement content aligns with overall communication strategies, making strategic decisions where needed
  • Building effective working relationships internally and externally
  • Experience of communicating and engaging with diverse communities about health / health research, particularly via digital routes.
  • Experience collaborating with internal Product & Content teams to support the product lifecycle and external messaging-by contributing lived experience, community feedback, and engagement insights.
  • Have a dynamic, flexible approach, with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Have strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and works well in a busy, changing environment with tight deadlines.
  • Be able to build relationships and work confidently with colleagues and external stakeholders at all levels and from all backgrounds.
  • Have good written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate complex messaging clearly and in a way that is meaningful for different groups of people.
  • Have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Let's prevent disease together.

This is a 12 month FTC.
