What will I be doing? As a key member of the Legal team, you will act as a strategic partner to the business, balancing commercial velocity with robust risk management. You will take ownership of complex, high value deals that drive Kaluza's global expansion, operating as the lead legal representative in commercial contracting processes with the confidence and authority that demands.
- Structure Strategic Deals: You will draft, negotiate, and close complex SaaS subscription agreements for the Kaluza platform, professional services contracts, and strategic partnership agreements with international enterprise clients. You will take clear positions on risk allocation and high stakes issues involving IP licensing, cloud liability, service levels and data protection.
- Lead Negotiations: You will represent Kaluza as the lead legal negotiator in commercial discussions. This involves asserting Kaluza's position, maintaining critical commercial terms, and driving negotiations towards a successful outcome, collaborating effectively with the business team throughout the process.
- Drive Commercial Strategy: Acting as a core legal advisor to the Commercial and Bid teams, you will support RFPs, pricing structures, and risk allocation strategies for large scale international deals, ensuring commercial viability while protecting the business. You will be solutions oriented, adept at identifying pragmatic paths forward.
- Communicate with Precision and Impact: You will deliver concise, structured legal advice in fast moving commercial conversations, distilling complexity into clear, actionable positions - not lengthy, discursive commentary.
- Scale Commercial Operations: You will partner with the Commercial team in evolving our commercial playbooks, to create a frictionless contracting process that ensures consistency and efficiency across the sales cycle.

- Proven Negotiation Authority: You have a demonstrable track record of leading commercial negotiations end to end as the sole or lead legal representative. You take clear, defensible positions on liability, risk, and commercial terms in live negotiations and do not require frequent validation from senior management.
- Decisive and Autonomous: You take ownership of decisions and provide your position on a legal or commercial issue with clarity and conviction. You are trusted to operate independently and represent the business without close oversight.
- Concise and Precise Communicator: You communicate with clarity and economy, distilling complex matters into clear actional guidance, and avoid making assumptions.
- Global Mindset: You have a proven track record of drafting and negotiating contracts that bridge multiple international jurisdictions (e.g., EMEA, North America, APAC).
- Commercial Acumen: You don't just quote the law; you translate complex legal issues into clear, actionable business advice. You understand the balance between protecting the company and getting the deal done.
- Scale Up DNA: Previous experience working in a high growth SaaS or technology scale up environment, where you have thrived in ambiguity and rapid change.
- Energy Sector Knowledge: We are looking for candidates who are engaged with our mission and can articulate why the energy sector matters to them.
