Senior Cloud Database Engineer

We're supporting a leading energy trading and technology-driven organization in their search for a Senior Cloud Database Engineer to join their Madrid team. In this role, you'll be key to driving the evolution of their cloud and hybrid database environments, designing scalable solutions that support the core of their digital infrastructure.

Your Mission

• Architect and evolve robust database solutions tailored to complex organizational needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including application managers, architects, and systems engineers to optimize database performance and integration.
• Take a technical leadership role, mentoring the database team and enhancing its capabilities.
• Design, implement, and maintain high-availability and scalable database systems.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders on strategic database decisions.
• Monitor and tune database performance to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Establish and enforce security standards and manage disaster recovery processes.
• Maintain detailed technical documentation and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation when required.

Your Profile

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent, ideally with further education in cloud/database technologies.
• 5+ years of experience in managing and evolving cloud and hybrid database environments.
• Track record of successfully leading complex database projects.
• Strong communicator with experience working across various technical and business teams.
• Solid hands-on experience with MS SQL Server, Oracle, Oracle Linux, and Scripting (eg, Shell).
• Expertise in public cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP) and tools like Terraform, Ansible.
• Proficient with cloud-native database services (eg, AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).
• Strong analytical mindset with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
• Fluent in English; German is a plus.
