Senior Clinical Fellow in Haematology (ST3+)

This post is for a full time ST3+ level in Clinical Haematology within the Department of Haematological Medicine at Saint George's Hospital. Based at St George's Hospital NHS Trust in the department of haematology for 12 months and will be participating in the on-call rota.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as an integrated part of the haematology team at an ST3+ level supporting the in-patient, day unit and outpatient services across both malignant and non-malignant haematology under the supervision of the consultant team. The role will rotate through all subspeciality roles including haemato-oncology, red cell disorders, bleeding disorders and laboratory haematology including their on-call responsibility. They will be required to manage and review patients in the outpatient and inpatient setting.

Person Specification Qualifications and Training

• MRCP (or equivalent)
• Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or eligible for registration within six months of interview)
• ST3 level training or equivalent (if non-UK trained)
• Previous experience of 24 months in Hospital General Medicine
• Additional qualifications or Post-graduate qualification in related field.
• FRCPath in Haematology (or equivalent)

Experience

• Experience in diagnostic and clinical haematology
• Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients with haematological conditions
• Experience of clinical audit.
• Have 24 months UK hospital experience.
• Experience of undergraduate teaching
• Experience or training in supervision of medical trainees.

Skills

• Knowledge of the processes and function of clinical governance
• Knowledge of the processes of managing clinical teams
• Knowledge of the process for CPA and MHRA
• Familiarity with nurse-led services

Knowledge

• Able to work effectively with colleagues across a range of specialties or in a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to team working, and respect and consideration for the skills of others.

• Evidence of contribution to effective clinical audit.
• Understanding of the principles and applications of clinical research
